LIVING IN BONDAGE BY NNADI VICTOR EBUKA
In a distant land where dreams unfold,
Abroad husband lives, stories untold.
With wife and kids, his life serene,
Yet shadows dance where light has been.
A call, a whisper, his heart divides,
In secret he hides, where truth collides.
Money sent through trusted hands,
A love concealed, time’s shifting sands.
“Who is she?” abroad wife queries,
“A house help,” he says, in hurried flurries.
“Updating me on mother's health,”
A lie spun tight, a tale of stealth.
On calls, he shouts, “Babe, I’ll call you back,
My wife dey come,” his voice a track.
Guarding family, a careful guard,
Living love, where hearts are scarred.
No social posts, no public claim,
A hidden life, love's silent flame.
Your role defined, until return,
In shadows you wait, with love to burn.
Four weeks he spends, in fleeting grace,
Then four years gone, a distant face.
Mute when wife calls, a silent room,
In presence, you feel the looming gloom.
Video calls with wife, open and free,
Yet with you, no such liberty.
Faithfulness asked, a heavy toll,
Years of longing, a love on hold.
Main wife, he says, in bonds so tight,
Yet living apart, a hidden light.
A man divided, a heart confined,
In love's true form, you're left behind.
Living in bondage, truth or lie,
In silent tears, you question why.
A tale of love, of pain and grace,
In shadows you dwell, an endless chase.
Let me come and be going, you say,
In a life where love has lost its way.
