WRITE LIKE A PROFESSIONAL EVEN IF YOU ARE A BEGINNER.
Have you ever felt the urge to tell your story but don't know how to begin?
Do you appreciate the literary works of others but don't know how to start writing yours?
Are you on the verge of giving up your dream of being a writer?
Worry no more, with these few writing tips you can start your writing journey.
1. Identify your writing window: what is a writing window?
A writing window is simply a period in a day when you're more creative and more energized. This could be in the early hours of the morning, after a nap, in the evening, or at night when serenity is at its peak. As a beginner, identify your writing window and stick to it. I love writing in the early hours of the morning and at night. When do you enjoy writing the most? Share with me in the comments section.
2. Cultivate the habit of reading: do you know that writers are readers?
Even the most influential writers in this world still carve out time to read. Reading helps you get acquainted with your writing niche, helps to develop your vocabulary, and stores experience and lessons in your head. Read daily. Devote time every day to reading articles, stories, and blogs on the niche of your choice. Reading enhances your thinking speed.
3. Write every day:develop the habit of sitting in a comfortable environment with your pen and paper ready to write. Your first work might be the worst but guess what? Even the bestselling author felts like that at the Initial stage but they didn't give up.
Create a list of topics to write about or focus on one genre at a time and keep writing. A strong mindset, intense desire, and will to tell your stories to the world would keep you on track.
4. Get yourself a role model: who is a role model? A role model is someone worthy of imitation. I am pretty sure you're highly intrigued by the works of a specific writer. You can make this person your role model. Study his or her biography, and writing concepts, and also follow them on their social media handles. Their passion, words of motivation, and books will keep you on track to be even a bestseller author. Who is your role model in the writing world? You can tell me in the comment section.
Finally, Maya Angelou quotes, "there is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside of you."
