COURSERA UNVEILS THE MUST-HAVE TECH SKILLS DOMINATING 2024'S JOB MARKET!
Coursera, an online skills training platform, has released its Job Skills of 2024 report, highlighting the top 10 tech skills that will be in high demand this year. The report identifies these skills based on insights from five million learners affiliated with businesses, higher education institutions, and governments globally.
1. System Security: This involves securing the networks and resources of an organization.
2. Linux Operating System: The ability to use the Linux operating system for all devices.
3. Systems Design: Defining the architecture, product design, modules, interfaces, and data to meet specified requirements.
4. React (Web Framework): Creating intuitive user interfaces using the React open-source web framework from Meta.
5. Software Architecture: Translating software characteristics into a structured solution that aligns with business and technical requirements.
6. Computer Security Incident Management: Creating a comprehensive and robust IT security infrastructure.
7. Django (Web Framework): Using Django, a high-level Python web framework, for rapid development of secure and maintainable websites.
8. Cyberattacks: Protecting an organization against cybercriminals, from ransomware to denial of service.
9. Security Software: Ensuring that devices and networks are secure and ready for any challenges, from email security to intrusion detection.
10. Security Strategy: Developing a dynamic and proactive cybersecurity strategy.
The report emphasizes the impact of a rapidly changing job market, driving the need for developer skills. Three of the fastest-growing tech skills are React, software architecture, and Django. The rise in demand for developer skills may be attributed to AI-augmented tools like Github Copilot, accelerating investment in government websites, e-servicing platforms, and digital transformation in key public services.
Coursera's CEO, Jeff Maggioncalda, highlights the importance of equipping individuals with the right skills in a world reshaped by technology, AI, and globalization. The report aims to address concerns among business leaders about the preparedness of recent graduates for the workforce, especially in the face of rapid advancements in AI.
